Healthier For You
There are countless studies illustrating the health benefits of eating grassfed beef. We won't bore you by sighting studies (see below for links with more information), here's the basics of why it's better for you:
Grassfed meat is leaner with less saturated fat
Contains a higher percentages of Omega 3s (the good ones)
Lower Omega 6's (the bad ones)
CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acids) - very good stuff
A greater variety of antioxidant vitamins and minerals including Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Riboflavin, B Vitamins, Thiamin, Calcium, Potassium, & Magnesium.
Healthier For The Animal And The Land
The healthier the animal the better the meat.
Cattle evolved to eat grass, feeding them a grain based diet disrupts their digestion so why not just let them eat grass?
The best way to raise animals is with respect, by allowing cows to be cows by roaming free and eating what nature intended. By allowing cows to be cows they are naturally in a low stress environment. We bring our cattle to a USDA approved slaughterhouse in Petaluma, California. Once the animal has been processed they are then brought to a USDA inspected butcher shop for final packaging.
It's better for the environment. Grassing on grasslands provides not only the cow with what it needs but in return the land gets what it needs. Grazing reduces flooding and soil erosion, provides healthier and diverse ecosystems, offers sustainable manure management, encourages fertile soil and increased nutrient density in forage, and for us eliminates the need for chemical fertilizers and pesticides used to grow grains, corn, & soy.
We are involved in every step of the process overseeing and managing the cattle from the time they born to the time they are harvested.
